Al-Habibiyyah Islamic Society Signs MOU with International Open University, Gambia Strengthening Islamic Education, Capacity Development and Opportunities for Students
Al-Habibiyyah Islamic Society has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the International Open University (IOU), Gambia, establishing a strategic partnership aimed at strengthening education, capacity development and opportunities for students and staff.
The partnership represents an important milestone in the Society’s commitment to advancing access to quality Islamic and professional education while building stronger institutional relationships that can create lasting benefits for the wider Muslim community.
Through the agreement, both institutions will collaborate in key areas including scholarship opportunities, staff training and capacity development, student support, and educational engagement.
One of the key components of the partnership is the provision of scholarship opportunities for eligible beneficiaries, allowing students to pursue higher education and develop knowledge and skills that can contribute to their personal development and the advancement of their communities.
The MOU will also provide opportunities for training and professional development of Al-Habibiyyah staff. These capacity building initiatives are expected to strengthen the competencies of staff and enhance the Society’s ability to deliver effective educational, administrative and community development programmes.
In addition, the partnership will support the establishment of a physical space for IOU students, providing a conducive environment where students can receive support, interact with fellow learners and participate in activities that complement their academic journey.
The collaboration also creates a platform for both institutions to explore further areas of mutual interest, including Islamic education, research, leadership development, professional training and community development.
Speaking on the partnership, the leadership of Al-Habibiyyah Islamic Society expressed optimism about the opportunities the collaboration will create for students, staff and the wider community, noting that meaningful partnerships remain essential to building sustainable educational and human capital development initiatives.
The Society looks forward to working closely with the International Open University to translate the commitments of the MOU into practical programmes, measurable outcomes and sustainable opportunities for beneficiaries.
This partnership reflects a shared vision: to expand access to knowledge, develop capable people and strengthen institutions that contribute positively to the future of the Muslim community.
