Al-Habibiyyah, FIUSS Malaysia Sign MOU on Waqf, Blockchain Innovation
Al-Habibiyyah Islamic Society has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with FIUSS, Malaysia, to promote innovation in Waqf, Islamic social finance and blockchain technology.
The agreement was signed in Abuja during the visit of Dr. Hamid Rashid, a Waqf and blockchain expert associated with FIUSS, Malaysia. The engagement brought together Islamic philanthropy, humanitarian development and emerging financial technologies.
The partnership is expected to explore ways of applying blockchain and other digital technologies to improve the transparency, accountability and sustainability of Waqf management.
Speaking during the engagement, representatives of Al-Habibiyyah Islamic Society stressed the need for Islamic philanthropic institutions to embrace innovation while preserving the principles and values that underpin Islamic social finance.
The Society said the collaboration would also create opportunities for knowledge exchange, research and the development of practical models capable of strengthening Waqf as a tool for economic empowerment and sustainable community development.
The initiative reflects growing efforts to move Waqf beyond conventional charitable giving towards a more structured system capable of supporting long term social and economic impact.
The collaboration between Al-Habibiyyah Islamic Society and FIUSS, Malaysia, therefore marks a significant step in connecting Islamic philanthropy with technology, governance and sustainable development.
The partnership is expected to contribute to ongoing conversations around the future of Waqf and Islamic social finance in Nigeria and beyond.
